4 luxurious places for your parents to stay in Sheffield

19th Mar 2019

When your parents come to visit you in Sheffield for the weekend, it may not be a break for you, but it certainly is a break for your parents. Sheffield is a wonderful city and there is so much to experience. As it's a break, they probably don't want to sleep on your bedroom floor, so why not impress them by making their Sheffield stay special. We've found four places that will help you to give a memorable and luxurious trip to the seven hills of Sheffield. Our recommendations might even earn you some brownie points for the next time you need some!

Mercure Sheffield St Pauls

If your family want to be central while they're in the city, look no further than the Mercure Sheffield. This hotel is in the heart of the city and the entrance is at the bottom of the Peace Gardens. Many of the rooms offer excellent views of the city. Remember to ask for such a room. It’s worth noting that there is also a contemporary restaurant, champagne bar and a steam room/ sauna/ ice fountain to boot.

Beware: your family might not want to spend too much time with you if they opt for the Mercure St Pauls hotel.

Leopold Hotel Sheffield

The Leopold Hotel is our second choice. The hotel is built on the former site of a Grade II listed Boys Grammar School. At the time of writing, it is Sheffield’s only four-star boutique hotel.

Probably the greatest reason for your parents to stay here is that the hotel entrance opens up onto Leopold Square. If you somehow don't yet know, there are loads of great restaurants here for them to try. To name just a few, Leopold Square includes The Botanist, Strada, Cubanam Wagamama, and Aagrar,

House Boat Hotels Ltd

If your Mum and Dad are of the adventurous type then why not go completely left field Sheffield with our next pick: Spend a few days on a boat!

House Boat Hotels offer apartment style accommodation in Sheffield's unique waterfront location of Victoria Quays. The boats are permanently moored, so they won’t wake up in Manchester the following day.

Victoria Quays is located right next to the Hilton Sheffield, and you are given free access to Hilton's Living Well Health Club. Included is a gym, stream room, , hot tub and swimming poo, so you're getting the best of both worlds!

We absolutely must point out that there is also an English breakfast included too. You can guess which one gets our vote.

What a unique way to remember Sheffield by.

Cross Scythes Hotel

As you are now learning Sheffield is an amazing city. There is also just as much great stuff on the fringes of Sheffield, out in the countryside. The Peak District is only 16 miles out of Sheffield. If Mum and Dad are a fan of the countryside why not try the Cross Scythes Hotel in Totley.

The Cross Scythes Hotel includes a restaurant and a pub. The picturesque pub is housed in a building, which according to Sheffield History, dates from the 17th century. Expect proper food and proper beer.  Starting at only £65 a night this could be the best value hotel on our list.

If your parents have stayed anywhere else whilst in the seven hills of Sheffield that impressed them, please let us know and we'll add it to our list.
